Firestorm performs all of its fire training with its qualified instructors within the company. All of our instructors have met the State Fire Marshall’s standards for instructor 1A and 1B.
Each year Firestorm provides approximately 20-25 different classes and trains a total of 300 students. Our classes range from the basic 32 firefighter training to division supervisor training. We also provided classes on prescribed burning, EMS and Leadership.
All of our training is coordinated through our training coordinator Bill Martin. All training follows the NWCG standards and all students are trained to the 310-1 and Region 5 standards.
Training Facilities
Our Chico headquarters has a training room that is equipped with full video and power point capabilities. Our training room accommodates 25-30 students per class. Where available, all classes are taught utilizing power point.
Investing in Training
Firestorm invests heavily in the training of our employees. The training of our employees has helped reduce our lost time work injuries as well as improve the quality of our crews.
Annual Refresher Training
Every year all of our firefighters go through a critical refresher course that is 24 hours long. The students perform proficiency drills, physical fitness testing, Fire shelter deployment testing, leadership, sexual harassment, radio use, 10’s and 18’s testing and much more. We utilize the NIFC web site to keep up to date on the Annual refresher training information.
